By nature, the father plays the role as the breadwinner of the family. This basically means that the father brings and is the main source of income that allows the family to acquire for their basic necessities and some leisure. To simply put, no job for the father equals to no income for the family. In " Lengua Para Diablo" , contemporary Philippine-Australian writer Merlinda Bobis used several writing techniques like symbolism and reversal of roles. (Image from cnnphilippines.com) The story prompts a very realistic setting that shows our country's problems today  —  poverty and unemployment  —  and how it affects us. It can be seen in the text that the father's being jobless created a big difference in the way he acts around his family. He was not able to fulfill his promise of a better life for his family, especially to his wife whom he have sworn to provide an electric fan, bigger windows, and a bigger house. In this generation, it's getting a little hard to grasp the true essence of reading and writing. Is scanning through Facebook considered reading? Reading tweets and threads on twitter? Posting your daily galas  and barkada trips? I believe that there is a criteria in writing different literary forms but we should never feel restricted with what we want to express especially with posting on social media. Yes, we have the right on freedom of speech but with that comes the responsibility and the consequences of expressing yourself publicly. Whenever I see people rant on social media, it really takes a moment for me to let it sink in that these people were on the verge of their emotions that's why they go and take it out on social media where the public can see. This is where the "bashers" come in. Each and every one of us may have similar or different opinions. When we see rant posts we disagree on, we tend to comment and push ourselves or even others just to prove
